Member of the RA Public Council, former deputy Arshak Sadoyan says candidates can spend the least amount of money on their elections campaigns by using the Internet and believes that this can help save the money that would be spent on airtime and meetings.

The topic of today's discussion was the appropriateness of using the Internet as a means of propaganda.

The "Package of proposals contributing to the organizing of pre-election propaganda through the use of information technologies and the assurance of interactive communication with voters" was presented during the discussion organized by the RA Public Council and the "National Cooperation" Foundation's Public Relations Internet Club.

Arshak Sadoyan suggests that political parties use websites and social networks and visit sociology.am where there is a special section devoted to political parties.
Even though invitations had been sent to all the political parties participating in the elections, there were only 5 political parties, and the proposal wasn't accepted.

Representative of the Democratic Party of Armenia Suren Movsisyan says the Internet still can't be used for the public at large in Armenia. According to his statistics, only 25% of the population uses the Internet, and the number is large in Yerevan alone. He underlined that 25% of people can't be politically active.

Arshak Sadoyan objected, saying that even if 5,000 people are politically active on the Internet, that is a large number and people can expect results by using the Internet.
