Though the leader of the opposition Heritage party Raffi Hovannisian declared about his intention to quit the race for a majority seat in parliament he has not officially withdrawn his candidacy from Constituency N7.

The news was reported by senior member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) Nikol Pashinyan who is running for parliament in the same constituency.

Earlier today, Raffi Hovannisian said that Heritage members had met with HAK representatives and proposed backing each other during the parliamentary elections.
Nikol Pashinyan said he had not personally met with the Heritage members.

"The meeting was held at the HAK office. Heritage proposed that Raffi Hovhannisian withdraw his candidature in Constituency N7, with HAK withdrawing its candidates from five single-mandate constituencies (1,4,6,9 and 12) in return."

"Surely, the opposition alliance rejected the proposal as we could have similarly suggested the Heritage party to remove its candidates from the aforesaid constituencies," said Mr Pashinyan.

In conclusion, he added that before nominating candidates the HAK had tried to find out in which single member constituencies the Heritage would have nominees but they were not given any information.
