Artsruni’s trial postponed
The court today postponed the trial of Arsen Artsruni to April 18. Arsen Artsruni is sentenced to death at Nubarashen Penitentiary.
According to hra.am, the prosecutor had notified Artsruni, but hadn't shown up to court. The judge was compelled to interrupt the trial to clarify the reasons why the prosecutor hadn't shown up. After the break, the judge declared that the trial couldn't take place without the prosecutor.
On March 6, the first instance court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash districts started examining Arsen Artsruni's case after the RA Cassation Court had upheld the appeal filed by Artsruni's attorney against the verdict announced by the RA Court of Appeals in December 2011 and had sent the case back to the first instance court.
Artsruni, who has been in prison for 17 years, is charged with inciting two different murders. After the amendments made to the RA Criminal Code in 2011, this crime foresees 15 years in prison, but not a life sentence.
