Hovannisian is ready to withdraw his candidates
The Heritage party will have up to 25 percent proportional representation in parliament provided that Armenia holds free, fair and transparent elections on May 6, Heritage leader Raffi Hovannisian told a news conference on March 23.
Hovhannisian, who has been nominated himself in constituency N7, says he was unaware that Nikol Pashinyan, member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), was also going to run in the same constituency. He learnt the news when submitting his papers.
Asked whether he would withdraw his candidacy in the long run, Hovannisian said he was ready to do it but they need to persuade him.
Earlier Mr Hovannisian had urged the opposition forces to unite their efforts ahead of the May 6 parliamentary elections and nominate one candidate in each constituency.
HAK Spokesman Arman Musinyan refrained from commenting on Hovannisian's proposal promising to speak on the issue on March 24.
