Member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), ex-Mayor of Yerevan Vahagn Khachatryan will run for parliament in constituency N8.

"Everyone knows me there. I have a lot of good friends in that area, including the late Vahan Zatikyan who has done a lot of work for Malatia-Sebastia district. I am convinced that my chances to win in the constituency are great," he told journalists in Yerevan.

Khachatryan's rival in the constituency will be Republican MP Koryun Nahapetyan, a relative of businessman Samvel Alexanyan who has been nominated at constituency N7.

The ex-mayor says the oppositional blog has great chances to win the elections ‘provided that the ruling Republican party does not resort to administrative levers.'

"Republican's last hope to win the election is to apply the administrative resource which will enable them to garner over 10% votes," he said.

Khachatryan says that the HAK is now the most popular force in Armenia, followed by the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) and Heritage.
