International observers arrive in Yerevan

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Election Observation Mission for the 6 May Parliamentary Elections in the Republic of Armenia has already arrived in Yerevan.

The Mission will hold a press conference at 14:00 on Thursday, 22 March 2012, at the Marriot Hotel in Yerevan.

Ms. Radmila Šekerinska, Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission, will outline the Mission's mandate, scale and the scope of its activities. The press conference will also provide an opportunity for journalists to put questions to the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission.

The OSCE/ ODIHR will send 250 short-term and 24 long-term observers to monitor the 6 May parliamentary elections in Armenia. In 2007 and 2008, the OSCE/ ODIHR sent more observers to Armenia.

According to the Central Election Commission of Armenia, ten local NGOs have submitted applications to carry out an observation mission during the upcoming elections. among them are;

The Choice is Yours -1667 observers
Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office - 27 observers
Fist - 798 observers
Pan-Armenian Youth Association - 746 observers
Balanced Development of Community NGO -1028 observers
The Club of Young Diplomats - 569 observers
Cornerstone - 390 observers
Children of Victory - 413 observers
