The representatives of the Assembly of Armenians of Western Armenia have sent a letter to President of Turkey Abdullah Gul, demanding him to officially recognize the ongoing crime committed against the Armenians and their civilization by the Ottoman, Young Turks and Kemal governments from 1894 to 1923.

The authors of the letter underlined that the Armenian Genocide had begun with the 1894 massacres in Sasun. The authors present the Armenian Genocide in three stages, including the Hamid massacres (1894-1896), as well as the massacres planned and perpetrated by the Young Turks in Adana (1909) and the massacres planned and perpetrated by the Young Turk and Kemal governments (1915-23).

In the letter, the authors demand that the government of the Republic of Turkey fully recognize the genocide planned and perpetrated at the state level from 1894 to 1923 based on legal and historical documents from the archives.
