Two people have been fighting inside the justice minister of Armenia in the last two years - a lawyer and a politician.

"I feel that the political figure is prevailing over the lawyer," Hrayr Tovmasyan at the National Assembly.

Asked whether he was not ashamed to be included on the electoral list of the ruling Republican Party (HHK) together with Artashes Geghamyan, Khosrov Harutyunyan and Hayk Babukhanyan, the minister said he was not.

In reply to the question whether he was forced to do it, Mr Tovmasyan cited an Armenian saying and added ‘someone who has been forced to become a party member or minister cannot work with his to-be colleagues.'

Even after becoming an HHK member Hrayr Tovmasyan is not going to read the works of Garegin Nzhdeh (a prominent Armenian statesman and political thinker). Nor is he going to read the books of Artashes Geghamyan who has appeared on the same list with him.

"I shall read them when I find time," said the minister.
