“Azerbaijan’s oil can’t be more expensive”

During the visit to Lithuania, the parliamentary delegation led by Vice-Chairman of the RA National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov on March 8 had a meeting with Lithuanian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatyavichius.

The sides attached importance to further strengthening of bilateral relations and discussed issues related to the Armenian-Lithuanian partnership.

Touching upon the May 6 parliamentary elections in Armenia, the Armenian side underlined the Armenian authorities' will to organize and hold elections corresponding to democratic norms.

NA Vice-Chairman Eduard Sharmazanov attached importance to Lithuania's role as a country with experience in establishing a system of democratic values and mentioned that Lithuania could assist Armenia on the road to European integration in terms of the efficiency of efforts for reforms.

The Lithuanian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs informed that the EU Eastern Partnership Summit would be held in Vilnius in 2013 and that Lithuania would take over the EU presidency in the same year. He affirmed Lithuania's willingness to support the process of reforms taking place in Armenia.

In regard to the NK conflict, Ignatyavichius reaffirmed Lithuania's official position on the conflict resolution based on the three well-known and established principles.

The Armenian side underlined that there was no alternative to the international recognition of Artsakh.

"Europe has realized that Azerbaijan's oil can't be more costly than the blood that Armenians shed for independence," Sharmazanov said.
