The building of the Armenian Embassy in Moscow already belongs to Armenia.
"The Russian law does not permit to transfer the land plots or areas into the ownership of foreign legal entities, therefore we rented it for 100 years for token payment," Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharian said at a cabinet meeting. The ministry official said Armenia will likely prolong the rental period of another 100 years.

In return, Armenia's ally - Russia - has obtained some territories in Armenia with the right of ownership. In particular, a citizen of Gyumri has been deprived of his property, with the building being transferred to Russia in order to open a consulate general there. In addition, Russia will receive 158 and 150 square meters lands in Yerevan, near the building of the Russian Embassy.

Russia also rented two buildings in Aghevran for 50 years' period.
According to the RA Deputy FM, all these lands and buildings were transferred to the Russian Federation with the right to property.
