Leader of the People's Party Tigran Karapetyan will run in precinct N 17 (Artashat city and surrounding communities) in the May 6 parliamentary elections.

This is what he announced during today's press conference.

As far as his party's participation in the elections is concerned, Karapetyan said that would be determined during the party's congress to be held either in late March or early April.

"If we decide to participate in the elections, we will only go alone because alliances in Armenia are not established on the basis of ideas. We don't wish to establish another coalition," Karapetyan mentioned.

According to him, the upcoming elections won't be qualitatively different from the rest, and those who receive the green light will be represented in parliament".

When asked if he had the green light, Karapetyan said the political parties would receive the green light.

"It is easy for candidates in the majoritarian order. Political figures and media outlets need the green light. If that wasn't the case, you (referring to "A1+"-ed) would have airtime, and so would I."

How likely is it for you to be elected? In response, Karapetyan said he wasn't afraid of competing with his potential opponents, Hovik Abrahamyan or former police chief Alik Sargsyan.

Discussing the ruling Republican Party, Karapetyan mentioned that the party had advocated with government funding.

As for oppositionists, particularly the Armenian National Congress (HAK), Tigran Karapetyan says the HAK is losing its electorate and will be compelled to make deals with the authorities.

"I think they are all interconnected," the leader of the People's Party concluded.
