“Putin will have Kaddafi’s fate”
President of Georgia Mikhail Sahakashvili yesterday met residents of the Georgian province of Akhtem and commented on the Russian presidential elections at their request.
"No matter what happens in Russia today and no matter what kind of elections are held, Russia has no future with that government," said Sahakashvili.
The "Новый Регион" (Novi Region) news website reports that earlier, Sahakashvili had compared "Putin's regime" with the regimes of Mubarak and Kaddafi.
"The Russian government is moving in the same path. It will have the same fate as Mubarak and Kaddafi," said the Georgian President.
According to Sahakashvili, Russia showed how flexible it was and joined the World Trade Organization. However, after achieving its goal, the government is now returning to the days before WTO integration.
Sahakashvili also touched upon the Russian-Georgian visa regime, which the Georgian side lifted on February 29. Russia viewed this step as "propaganda" and linked Georgia's step to the British Airways flights that transferred passengers to Russia on Election Day for 2,500 rubles.
"We did that because we are a free country. The more Russian citizens visit the free territories, the more information and pleasure they will have by seeing our hospitality, cuisine, wine and mineral water," said Sahakashvili, adding that "Georgia is building its future and will achieve that."
