1,000 arrested, Popova’s hand broken
Most of the opposition members arrested at Pushkinsky Square in Moscow on March 5 are still at different police headquarters.
Interfax reports that one of the opposition's leaders Alexey Navalny won't be arrested for 15 days because he was sentenced to prison a couple of months ago after the end of the parliamentary elections in December 2011. However, Navalny will be fined.
Another opposition member, coordinator of the "Left Front" Sergey Udaltsov has informed that he and 20 other activists were transferred to the Alexeyevsky Division of Internal Affairs. "The article under which they will be charged remains unclear," said Udaltsov.
Alyona Popova, who is the assistant to Deputy of the Russian State Duma Ilya Ponomaryov, assures that the police that arrested Ponomaryov had broken his hand during the arrest.
Ponomoryov had declared that more than 1,000 participants of the movement "For Fair Elections" had been arrested.
Police say 250 people have been arrested, reports Radio Liberty.
