Silva Hambardzumyan to present video recording to public
Armenia-based businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan will soon announce which party she is going to ally with.
She will also give the recording of a November 14, 2011, incident with Syunik governor Surik Khachatryan in which the governor assaulted and slapped the businesswoman.
"The video, which I received by a court decision, clearly shows Khachatryan approaching and hitting me at the Armenia Marriott in Yerevan. It even reveals the minutest details I could not remember before," said Silva Hambardzumyan.
After the incident, the Special Investigative Service dropped the case against Suren Khachatryan saying the latter could not be prosecuted on "beating" charges because he had not injured Hambardzumyan.
The businesswoman is surprised at the SIS which ruled that the Syunik governor's actions did not break the law.
On November 15, 2011, Silva Hambardzumyan lodged a complaint with the SIS against the Syunik governor for reportedly violent conduct and accused him of corruption and business-related fraud. Hambardzumyan stated that Khachatryan had assaulted and punched her in the head in the Armenia Marriott Hotel on November 14.
It came after the businesswoman accused the governor of misappropriating mining equipment worth more than 100 million drams from her gold mine.
