Today is International Civil Defense Day
Every year on March 1, the international community marks the International Civil Defense Day.
In 1972, the representatives of member states of the International Organization for Civil Defense (IOCD) confirmed the updated text of the organization's charter.
The charter entered into legal force on 1 March 1972 and the organization was granted the status of an international inter-governmental organization.
The IOCD set March 1 as the International Civil Defense Day.
The Republic of Armenia joined the International Organization for Civil Defense in April 1994.
We remind that four years ago this day, thousands of citizens who were discontent with the results of the Armenian presidential elections and participated in the demonstration were subject to massacres in Yerevan. The bloodshed led to the death of 10 young citizens on that day.
