“Denial of the bill is not the end of the world”
Kiro Manoyan, Head of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau's Hay Dat, is not surprised by the decision of the French Constitutional Court which struck down on Thursday the bill penalizing the denial of genocides unconstitutional arguing that it curbs freedom of speech.
"The decision of the French top court shows the effect that the Turkish threats produced on France's legal system," Mr Manoyan told A1+.
The ARF representative explains the court's decision in the following way, "It shows that legal decisions cannot always be legal with or without political influence."
"The decision will not bring the end of the world," Kiro Manoyan said adding that the Armenian community of France will double efforts and make the country adopt a new law punishing denial of the Armenian genocide.
"Sarkozy is also interested in it and will not sit still either," he added.
