Ukraine and Russia's intelligence services reportedly prevented assassination of Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Russian state-run Channel One reports.

According to the source, intelligence agencies of Ukraine and Russia managed to thwart the plans of terrorists who were preparing an assasination attempt on Vladimir Putin after the presidential election. The group of criminals involved was already on the international wanted list and was detained in the Ukrainian city of Odessa. According to the TV channel, after weeks of interrogation, the gang members confessed they were planning to assassinate Putin in Moscow, soon after the March 4 presidential elections.
The TV channel promised to reveal more details on the plotted assassination later in the day.

Talking to Itar-Tass news agency, Press Secretary of Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov confirmed the information but did not elaborate.
