Nzhdeh would lose if he ran for parliament today
The Armenian National Assembly continues discussing the proposal on switching to a 100-percent proportional representation system.
Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) MP Ruben Gevorgyan said that ‘it is necessary to have a field that will be responsible for the country and its people.'
"I see the full proportional system as an excellent option. Five years ago, the BHK involved in its program the issue of shifting to a 100% proportional system. However, it may not come true due to lack of time," he said.
Chairman of the National Concord Party Aram Harutyunyan addressed the Republican MPs with the following words, "Dear Republicans, the forty-one [he meant the deputies elected on the majoritarian list] are not yours. They will be the first to abandon you or we shall witness repetition of the March 2012 tragedy but for a day. Together with the Prosperous Armenia Party, the Republicans staged a demonstration for the proportional system. If today Garegin Nzhdeh (prominent Armenian statesman and political thinker) ran in the elections with an oligarch he would lose. The majoritarian system does not belong to you. Look who has remained with Levon Ter-Petrosyan, they are mostly party members."
