EC chairs didn’t make it to province
Members of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Anushavan Harutyunyan and Garegin Kostandyan will continue to be the heads of the Artsvanik and Vardavank villages of Syunik province. The villagers were right in their predictions. The incumbent village heads took a strong hold once again and left the non-partisan women out. Out of the 240 voters, 213 voted for Anushavan Harutyunyan as village head of Artsvanik, while librarian Anush Stepanyan only received 15 votes. There was no big difference in Vardavank either. Out of the 50 voters, 38 cast their votes for Garegin Kostandyan, while the former educator received 11 votes. It isn't hard to assume that they were probably members of her family.
Chairperson of the electoral commission of precinct N 38 Sergey Sargsyan says the commission still hasn't received any complaints and the elections were held without any incidents.
Only the representatives of "Heritage" Party, who were appointed chairpersons of the electoral commission at the polling stations in Vardavank and Kuris, couldn't make it to the province since the roads leading to the province were almost impassable. On February 10, the representatives filed a challenge petition, after which the chairperson of the electoral commission appointed new chairpersons in accordance with the existing Electoral Code.
