Election campaign wrapping up in Hrazdan
Pre-election campaign is wrapping up in the Armenian city of Hrazdan where locals have to choose between the candidates of the ruling Republican Party (HHK), incumbent Mayor Aram Danielyan, and member of the Armenian National Congress (HAK), former lawmaker Sasun Mikayelyan.
The latter was due to meet local residents at 4p.m., February 10, at the city's Constitutional Square but since Aram Danielyan also planned a meeting there Sasun Mikayelyan had to hold an impromptu meeting on Thursday. Today Mikayelyan is sheduled to meet with residents of his village - Vanatur.
Talking to A1+, the HAK member said minibuses and buses had been suddenly removed before the meeting. Asked whether it was conditioned by the bad weather, Mr Mikayelyan said, "I wouldn't say so as they reappeared immediately after the meeting. People who came to the meeting from the suburbs said many were unable to get to the meeting due to the lack of transport."
Residents of Hrazdan informed A1+ that minibuses and buses will be transporting citizens to the city centre today to meet incumbent mayor Aram Danielyan. Employees of state agencies have been instructed to attend the event which will end with a concert and firework.
A1+ has been unable to contact Danileyan's pre-election office.
