Galust Sahakyan on PAP boycott
The Prosperous Armenia Party's step to boycott the National Assembly's session was not targeted at the Republican Party of Armenia. This is what Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia Galust Sahakyan said during a briefing today.
"Since we are getting ready for elections, we need to be tolerant in the political field and not only with the Prosperous Armenia Party, but in general," said the vice-chairman of the party.
Yesterday the Prosperous Armenia Party boycotted the vote on the bill "On Restrictions on Cash Functions". "They weren't at ease, that's all," said Galust Sahakyan.
Sahakyan says from the angle of political ethics, the PAP had to inform its coalition partners about its position before the vote.
"The PAP is our coalition partner and we will try to understand what the problem was."
Sahakyan is optimistic. "I think the law will pass, if it is introduced again, but this time it will be through the Republican Party and the "Country of Law" Party. We will also accept or comment on the proposals presented by the ARF-D and make them comprehensible for the PAP."
Galust Sahakyan noted that the anti-corruption bill was necessary for "Armenia's image abroad and international financial organizations". We mention that the Republican Party of Armenia considered the bill "On Restrictions on Cash Functions" an anti-corruption bill and declared that the political party that votes against the bill will be in favor of corruption. However, PAP is certain that this bill will help take more money from citizens.
