Turk wants to appear “more Catholic than the Pope of Rome”
Turkish Minister for Relations with the European Union Egemen Bagis has reiterated the statement "there was no Armenian Genocide" that he made at Davos.
"I haven't heard of any government arresting a Turkish minister. If necessary, I will return to Davos and reiterate my words," Bagis told journalists before leaving for Brussels, reports the Turkish Hurriyet Daily News.
"I know that they (the Swiss courts-ed) are trying to find something affirmative. They shouldn't waste time. I have said it, repeat and will repeat it during my future visits to Switzerland. We have fought, are fighting and will continue to fight for freedom of speech," said Bagis.
We remind that Swiss prosecutor Kristin Brownschweign has started a proceeding against Egemen Bagis based on the appeal filed by the local Armenian community in accordance with Article 261 (fight against racism) of the Swiss Criminal Code.
On January 30, in Davos, Bagis declared that "the events of 1915 weren't genocide. Let them come and arrest me".
