Justice Ministry: “Convicts attacked prison officers”
The Justice Ministry has issued a statement in response to media reports about punitive actions against HIV-infected Gagik V. and Narek G., inmates of Nubarashen penitentiary.
Gagik V. (convicted under Article 319, Part 1) and Narek G. (convicted under Article 235, part 4) presented illegal demands to the prison administration. After their demands were turned down, they attacked prison officers with cutting and piercing tools. The officers took drastic measures to stop the attack," reads the statement.
