Has anything changed?
A year ago this day, Serzh Sargsyan pledged mothers who had lost their sons that he would reveal the circumstances behind the deaths of their sons serving in the army, but the mothers gathered near the government building today said nothing has changed.
The body of temporary soldier Narek Galstyan was found in a benzene container at the car parking lot of the military unit on the night of May 9, 2008. According to the official version, the boy suffocated while committing robbery. The parents are frustrated, saying "they are even hurting our son's dignity after his death".
Even if the version of suicide or an accident as suggested by the judicial bodies is accepted, the parents of the deceased soldiers have one question on their minds: Who will say why the soldier wasn't asleep after midnight?
The parents of the deceased soldiers blame the country's primary figure for the deaths of their sons.
Serzh Sargsyan's Chief of Staff Vigen Sargsyan today assured the mothers gathered near the government building that Sargsyan hadn't forgotten them, after which the demonstrators asked whether anything had changed after a year.
