Life-termers declared open-ended hunger strike?
Gor Ghlechyan, spokesperson for the Penitentiary Department at the Ministry of Justice, dismissed the information that about 20 life-termers had stared an open-ended hunger strike at Nubarashen prison.
Talking to A1+, the ministry official said only two lifers, Harutyun Khachatryan and Arel Chatinyan, declared a termless hunger strike in the morning. They have been been taken to separate cells and are under the supervision of physicians.
"The strikers are in a normal health condition. They demand reviewing the criminal cases and the terms of their imprisonment," said Gor Ghlechyan.
He said that a group of psychologists is working with the lifers in an attempt to persuade them to stop the action.
