Hranush Hakobyan: “Merci, France”
Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia Hranush Hakobyan has addressed all Frenchmen, French-Armenians, as well as the leaders and members of French-Armenian organizations.
"Turkey's threats and offenses had no impact on the Senate's decision. For a legal and democratic state, human rights and the demand for no repetition of the crimes committed against mankind come first.
The adoption of laws and political decisions on the Armenian Genocide is the act of broad-minded and progressive countries and nations that are interested in the secure future of mankind.
Today, hundreds of thousands of Armenians, who are the bearers of the historical fate and memory, take pride in being of French origin and citizens of France.
I am certain that France will set an example for other European countries. One day, the whole world will say "Never Again" through international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. We are committed to study France's experience and disseminate it to other Armenian communities across Europe.
