OEK: “This step will serve as impetus”
Statement of "Country of Law" Party (OEK)
The French Senate's adoption of the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial once again proved that the French people and the government are willing to defend universal values. It was a decision that serves as the most important step for the prevention of genocides across the globe.
By recognizing the Armenian Genocide and criminalizing denial of genocide, the Upper Chamber of the French Parliament apparently declared to the world that it is loyal to universal values, the norms of morality and justice in the course of its domestic and foreign policies. The fact that the decision was taken by the two French chambers with a majority of different political forces goes to show that this was the expression of the French people's will. We are certain that this crucial step will serve as an impetus for international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide in Europe and different countries around the world.
Hundreds of thousands of members and supporters of the "Country of Law" Party (OEK) will continue to fight for Armenian Genocide recognition and the prevention of genocides as inhumane phenomena along with the Armenian people, and certainly different nations expressing good will.
