Youth express gratitude to France
Armenian youth representing different political forces today gathered near the French Embassy in Armenia to express their gratitude for the French Senate's adoption of the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial.
The youth expressed their gratitude with a candle-lighting ceremony and a letter addressed to the French authorities, particularly President of France Nikola Sarkozy. They are rest assured that the French Senate will set an example for other European countries.
The young ARF members expressed their gratitude with a song.
"The time has come for not only Turkey to take a glance at history, but also for the Republic of Armenia to stand up and criminalize denial of the Armenian Genocide as the successor of the country that was subject to genocide," said member of the Armenian Youth Association of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Azatuhi Simonyan.
French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud was touched by the Armenian youth's action today. "To be honest, I am very grateful to the Armenian people, especially the youth gathered here to respond to the French Senate's adoption of the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial."
