Yesterday's meeting with Chief of Armenian Police Vladimir Gasparyan awakened hopes in the parents of Tigran Ohanjanyan, who died in the army under non-combat conditions.

During the meeting which lasted about two hours, Mr. Gasparyan promised Tigran's parents to help disclose the circumstances of the death and objective investigation of the case.

The desperate parents decided to turn to Vladimir Gasparyan, as ‘something was done within the framework of the criminal case' in 1997-2010 when Gasparyan was Chief of the Military Police. Gasparyan had promised to meet with Tigran's parents after the previous session of the executive body.

Every Thursday, on the day of government sessions, parents of soldiers who died in non-combat conditions held protests outside the government premises, calling the executive body's attention to their demands.

Tigran Ohanjanyan died in a military unit in Vardenis in 2007. According to official reports, Tigran was electrocuted while the parents claim that their son was assassinated.

The case has been remitted to the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Defense.
