In which format will the Armenian National Congress participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections? Armenian National Congress coordinator Levon Zurabyan told "A1+" that the ANC political council would discuss that issue during tomorrow's session.

Zurabyan said the council would also discuss issues related to the Congress's rallies to be held in February and March.

Zurabyan says any political party, including the Prosperous Armenia Party, can help hold free, fair and transparent elections.

As for the draft law on making the transition to the 100-percent proportional electoral system proposed by the ARF-D and "Heritage", Zurabyan doesn't share the view that the draft law was initially failed because the votes in parliament were not enough to pass it.

"If the consolidation between society and political parties is possible, I would consider the adoption of that draft law even in parliament," Zurabyan said.

He recalled that the ANC had attached importance to the idea of holding the 100-percent proportional electoral system in its proposals that were released on 1 March 2010 and sent to the Council of Europe. "If we hadn't attached importance to that idea, we wouldn't welcome the initiative of the ARF-D and "Heritage"," Zurabyan said.

In this regard, the ANC is ready to show its support and finds that "there are other important steps to take for the improvement of the Electoral Code", which the ANC will present with its platform soon.
