Relatives of the March 1, 2008 victims demand a meeting with John Prescott (United Kingdom, SOC) and Axel Fischer (Germany, EPP/CD), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the monitoring of Armenia, who will make a fact-finding visit to Yerevan on 16-17 January.

The relatives are going to stage a protest action outside the CoE Office in Yerevan, if the co-rapporteurs ignore the relatives anew.

Alla Hovhannisyan, the mother of March 1 victim Tigran Khachatryan, received a call from the CoE Yerevan Office in the morning. She was told that John Prescott was ready to meet the relatives of the ten victims at 9:00 a.m., January 17.

"Mr. Prescott will receive us before meeting representatives of the Special Investigation Service. We are hopeful that the issues raised by the relatives will later be discussed with the SIS members," Alla Hovhannisyan told A1+.

During their previous visit the co-rapporteurs did not meet the victims' relatives. Following their visit, they issued a report thereby considering the chapter of March 1 as closed.

According to our information, John Prescott arrived in Yerevan alone as Axel Fischer has some health problems.
