On 6 December 2011, citizen of Vanadzor of the Lori province Gayane Ghulinyan appealed to the Helsinki Citizens Assembly in Vanadzor for the protection of the rights of her son, David Ayvazyan. Ayvazyan is currently serving at the military unit in Askeran.

On 23 December, the organization sent the E/2011-23.12/339 notice to the RA Ministry of Defense, but there hasn't been a response to this day.

On 14 January 2012 from 12:55 to 13:10 and then at 13:44, the HCA Vanadzor Office tried to contact the 1-88 hotline of the RA Ministry of Defense, but the calls remained unanswered.

"Based on the urgency of the issue, the HCA Vanadzor Office is making it public with the hope that the RA Minister of Defense will be informed," as stated in the message.

On 9 January 2012, David Ayvazyan told his mother that he was not feeling well and that he had told the military unit's nurse about that. According to Ayvazyan, the nurse had mentioned that the soldier needed to be transferred to a hospital when preparing the documents. The next day, Ayvazyan's mother was informed that D. Ayvazyan was still at the military unit and hadn't been transferred. On 12 January, Ayvazyan's mother was informed that the military unit was in a state of panic and that the soldiers were being transferred to the military unit in Aghdam. During the military drills, Ayvazyan felt ill and his blood pressure was 170/130. According to his mother, David had asked to be transferred to a hospital, but was transferred with great difficulty.

Ayvazyan is currently at the hospital in Stepanakert and has headaches, poor vision and pain in his heart. I ask for your support and intervention for immediate study of Ayvazyan health condition and the decision on whether he should continue to serve in the army.
