Tigran Karapetyan: “OEK is traitor”
The only alternative political force in Armenia is People's Party, the party's leader Tigran Karapetyan told a news conference on Friday.
Describing the coalition forces Mr. Karapetyan labeled the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) as a pseudo-democratic force. Further, he said that the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) has no ideology while the Rule of Law (OEK) is a traitor whose tarnished reputation cannot be cleaned even with whitener.
Tigran Karapetyan is still uncertain about his party's participantion in the next parliamentary elections or not. However, as a party leader he gives preference to the proportional representation system.
He thinks that the majoritarian system is beneficial for oligarchs.
"They are nominated on the majoritarian system and later become members of the Republican Party of Armenia," he stressed.
Should Armenia hold free and transparent elections, the People's Party will be represented in parliament," said Mr. Karapetyan.
At the same time, he recalled the bitter experience of the previous elections ‘when 80 000 out of the 120 000 votes that the party received during the vote were stolen.'
Therefore he does not pin great hopes on elections and blames people for rigged elections.
"I regret to say that our people are refugees. They are most cautious, careful and try to stay away from trouble," said the People's party leader.
Mr. Karapetyan is angered by the fact that people are bribed during elections. "They are giving people glasses, money and repeating the same things that I did ten years ago. The difference is that I did it after elections while they do it at the threshold of elections," he said.
Tigran Karapetyan is also angered by wide-spread monopoly which starts from the upper echelons and is imposed on voters.
"If you do not see it, it means you are blind," he said.
