North Korea to punish non-mourners
North Korean citizens, who did not mourn the death of former leader Kim Jong-il, are persecuted and sent to prison.
Tens of thousands of people endured freezing temperatures in Pyongyang on December 28, 2011, to bid farewell to the former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il in a meticulously-choreographed funeral designed to cement his legacy and transfer power to his youngest son, Kim Jong-un.
A huge army of spies followed the procession and weeping people, keeping an eye on those who did not mourn over the Korean leader's death. Those people were considered to be traitors who may be put to prison for six months or sent to do heavy manual labour.
