419 refugees granted Armenian citizenship
Seventy-three foreign citizens have applied to the State Migration Service of Armenia for asylum. Forty-eight applications have been granted, seven rejected, five suspended, six dismissed and eight are under consideration, Head of the Migration Service Gagik Yeganyan reported.
The issue of providing refugees with lodgings continues to remain in the limelight. Twenty-two families received rooms in hostels in 2011. 419 refugees were granted Armenian citizenship in 2011.
More than 86 000 refugees were granted Armenian citizenship since the country passed the law on Refugees in 1996.
