35 Euros for throwing a cigarette bud on the ground
Paris authorities are preparing to set a 35 Euro fine for smokers who throw the bud on the ground, reports BFM TV.
The municipal authorities have made up thousands of fines for keeping the streets clean, but the streets are still in poor condition. They hope the new fine will help make the cleaning of the world's capital of culture more efficient.
"A cigarette bud is poisonous since it contains nicotine and poisonous substances. If one cigarette bud is found in water, it can pollute more than 6 liters of water," Deputy Mayor of Paris Francois Danyo declared.
Many Parisians have said they disagree with this new decision. They suggest that the municipal authorities clean the dog dirt that one sees at every corner of the street.
