Defense Minister: "We must always be on alert"
The final yearend meeting of the board adjunct to the Ministry of Defense took place on December 27.
Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan noted in his speech that "2011 was a year of maintaining the successes and reducing the shortcomings in the Armed Forces."
"The Armed Forces fulfilled their task with honor. The efficiency of the Army further improved thanks to the deepening of international military cooperation and reforms in the military-educational field. Divisions of the Armed Forces improved their skills at different national and international military exercises," he said.
"The deepening of international military cooperation, reforms in the military sphere further increased the fighting efficiency of the Armed Forces."
Regarding the situation at the line of contact, the Minister said: "Azerbaijan continues making bellicose statements, combining it with militarized policy. To show a worthy rebuff to the enemy it is necessary to be always alert, to keep the Armed Forces ready, and important factors here are the everyday diligent work, efficient use of resources and reinforcement of discipline."
At the end of the event, Minister Ohanyan awarded the best commanders and staff members with medals, diplomas and presents.
