Sasun Mikaelian to run for Mayor of Hrazdan
Karabakh war veteran, commander of "Tigran Mets" detachment Sasun Mikaelian will run for mayor of Hrazdan city.
Sasun Mikaelian told "A1 +" that he bent before the wishes of his fellow citizens and announced his candidacy for the mayoral election.
The prominent oppositionist, member of the Armenian National Congress was stripped of his parliament mandate in October, 2009. Like several other prominent allies of opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosian, Mikaelian was convicted in June of organizing "mass disturbances" in the wake of the February 2008 presidential election. He was also found guilty of illegal arms possession. He was released earlier this year.
