"Do not sell infants!"
"We are against selling children" initiative has addressed an open letter to Minister of Health Harutyun Kushkyan, expressing its surprise over the fact that Naira Balayan, who was convicted of selling two infants, continues to work in Kanaker-Zeytun Medical Center in Yerevan.
"Naira Balayan was sentenced to two years in prison under Article 168 of the Criminal Code. The Court of Cassation sustained the verdict on Sept. 26, 2011. Nurse Balayan is now on temporary leave from prison to take care of her small child. However, it is surprising that she continues to work in the medical center.
There is no guarantee that she will continue her criminal activities under the guise of a nurse," the group said urging the Minister to be consistent and not to permit doctors to smear the honour of doctors.
