Politologist Manvel Sargsyan is convinced that political parties and forces shouldn't be allowed to organize change of power in Armenia.

"Perhaps the rule of political parties was the reason why we weren't able to overcome the situation in 2008," Sargsyan said during a roundtable discussion organized by Sardarapat Movement.

According to him, no political party or force should be allowed to lead a civil movement for change of power.

"Political parties have already done their dirty work in Armenia. All the political parties are legitimizing the illegitimate regime," Manvel Sargsyan said.

What should be done? In response, the politologist suggests the version in Chile where political parties were in the last positions as Pinochet was forced to step down from power. According to him, only after Pinochet resigned did political parties become active.

"After that, all political parties were invited to participate in free elections," the politologist said.

According to Sargsyan, Armenian society doesn't know who will organize change of power and how it will do it. The civil movement should create a map that will show the entire mechanism for change of power.

"The bottom line should be that a certain political party will not be involved in politics after change of power," Manvel Sargsyan said.
