“Upper Chamber will adopt draft law as well”
The Lower Chamber of the French Senate adopted the draft law criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide a short while ago. It will enter into legal force only after it is adopted by the Upper Chamber and ratified by President of France Nikola Sarkozy.
"I think the Upper Chamber will also adopt this draft law," Director of the Yerevan Office for the Armenian Cause and Political Affairs Kiro Manoyan told "A1+".
He underlined that the draft law that was adopted today refers to genocides that France has recognized. "The previous draft law, which was adopted by the Lower Chamber of the French Senate, simply referred to the Armenian Genocide, and the Upper Chamber said the adoption of such a draft law was out of its competence. The Senate won't have such a problem in this case."
Kiro Manoyan says the Turkish government and the Turkish community in France can't impede the adoption of the draft law criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide.
