Sergei Naryshkin elected State Duma Speaker
The former head of the Russian presidential administration, Sergei Naryshkin, has been Speaker of the Russian State Duma at its first session on Wednesday.
He received 238 votes which equals the seats of the ruling "United Russia" party. Eighty-eight deputies voted against Naryshkin.
The parliament also named Russia's ex-premier Alexander Zhukov, and Ivan Melnikov, as first deputy speakers of the State Duma.
