Armenian delegaties participate in CSTO sitting

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan participated in the joint sitting of the Councils of Defense Ministers, Foreign Ministers and National Security Secretaries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Moscow.

During the sitting the participants discussed and approved the issues to be discussed at the forthcoming sitting of the Collective Security Council, which are targeted at the reinforcement of cooperation within the CSTO framework.
The Ministers referred to the decisions taken during the sitting of the Collective Security Council in December 2010 and the process of implementation of the agreements reached at the non-official summit of the heads of state of CSTO member countries.

The Ministers discussed the statement to be adopted by the leaders of CSTO member states on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of signing of the Collective Security Treaty and the 10th anniversary of establishment of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

Other issues on the agenda included the improvement of the collective security system, optimization of the military, military-economic and military-technical cooperation, the fight against terrorism and illegal drug trafficking.
The participants discussed the annual report of the CSTO Secretary General, reference was made to the cooperation in the field of information, as well as a number of organizational and financial issues. The place and time of the next sitting was decided.

About twenty documents were signed at the outcome of the sitting. Belarus handed over the chairmanship of the Councils of Foreign Ministers, Defense Ministers and National Security Secretaries to Kazakhstan.
