Spokesperson of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and newly elected National Assembly (NA) Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov is ill-disposed to all "abnormal phenomena," but he refuses to give a political assessment to Syunik province Governor Surik Khachatryan's slap to businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan.

"If there was no legally defined crime, what political assessment should be done?" Sharmazanov told journalists on Dec 19.

The RPA Spokesman reminded that the criminal case launched against Surik Khachatryan has been quashed for lack of corpus delicti.

"The investigative body confirmed that Khachatryan slapped Hambardzumyan only once. I have nothing else to add on the matter," said Sharmazanov.

Further, the RPA representative said he felt profound respect for and bows down to great Armenians including French-Armenian chansonnier Charles Aznavour ‘even if he sharply condemns the Armenian authorities.'

"Respect all words and assessments of great Armenians who want to correct rather than worsen the situation in Armenia," he said.

Referring to the variance between leading coalition forces RPA and Prosperous Armenia Party, Sharmazanov said that there were no insurmountable disagreements within the coalition.

"These are minor inter-coalition disagreements which are are normal processes and a way of expressing pluralism," Sharmazanov stressed.

"The most important is that all coalition forces are united around the president's pre-election program and are determined to develop Armenia at the head of Serzh Sargsyan," he added.

In 2012, the newly elected NA Vice-Speaker wished the citizens of Armenia happiness, love and financial prosperity.
