“Will be linked to Samvel Alexanyan”
Nig-Aparan Compatriotic Union can't be involved in politics," member of the Union, "Heritage" Party MP Armen Martirosyan told "A1+".
The Nig-Aparan Compatriotic Benevolent Union held its 5th congress at Karen Demirchyan Sport-Concert Complex and elected MP, oligarch Samvel Alexanyan president of the Union as a replacement of Artashes Shahinyan physics and mathematics school principal Haykaz Navasardyan.
"There was a time when the Union implemented serious activities for the residents of Aparan and was able to raise their issues and contribute to their solutions. Currently, the primary issue of concern for the residents of Aparan is social, and the Union can't solve that on its own," Armen Martirosyan said.
He reminds that Aparan is a territory that lacks resources and the population can only be involved in cattle-raising.
The Union has members that are several businessmen from Aparan, including owner of Shant Company Manvel Gharibyan and owner of Lavanda Arayik Hayrapetyan.
"They showed quite a lot of support to the residents of Aparan. I think if the Union does something good, it will be presented on behalf of everyone. If it doesn't, it will be linked to Samvel Alexanyan," Armen Martirosyan said.
After today's congress, the Union's press service issued a press release in which it was stated that the Union has never been and never will be involved in politics. Taking into account the political position of businessmen who are members of the Union, don't you fear that the Union will be used as a resource for the Republican Party of Armenia in the upcoming parliamentary elections? In response, Armen Martirosyan said: "That won't work in my case. There are many non-partisan memeber, but if Nig-Aparan is used in the elections, it will destroy the Union."
We remind that this Union helped make the round-dance of Armenians on the plateau of Mount Aragats possible. This was perhaps the Union's last remarkable event that was held with the participation of RA Prosecutor General, honorary president of the Union Aghvan Hovsepyan.
