Any massive event in Russia is held under strict control since the authorities fear that they may turn into large-scale protests.

The Organizing Committee-24 yesterday wasn't allowed to hold a session to discuss the organizing of the rally to be held in Moscow and other Russian cities on December 24.

The debate was supposed to be broadcast live and help determine the plans on the sidelines of the wave of protest "For Fair Elections".

Organzing Committee activist, writer Boris Akunin told "Moskovsky Komsomolets" that the same day surprisingly coincided with the postponement of rock singer Boris Grebenshchikov's concert at the hall of Peterburg University.

"We were informed when it was already too late to look for another platform to hold the session. Until the last moment there was hope that they would let us because there was an initial agreement. I asked for an explanation, but didn't receive it. Everyone has to decide for himself what is allowed and what is not," Akunin said.

"The authorities feared that the situation at the concert could have gotten out of hand. The singer said this was the first time that something like this happened throughout the past 25 years," Boris Akunin said.
