"The massive events in Russia are just the prelude," says leader of "New Times" Party Aram Karapetyan. He has no doubt that the movement that has started in Russia will become more active after the New Year. "The events taking place at this moment will stop. The demand for resignation of the Russian Central Electoral Commission will not be fulfilled and all the detained will be released."

According to Karapetyan, those arrested after the State Duma elections can't be definitely called political prisoners. "The Russians treat things differently. They're not like Armenians. The Russians' law is more neutral. They only deprive people of liberty for 15 days and set fines." The leader of the party has no doubt that "United Russia" Party won the State Duma elections, but "unlike the previous elections, the Communists garnered the most votes and were very close to "United Russia".

Karapetyan is rest assured that the Russian State Duma elections will have their impact on the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia. "If the Armenian authorities participate in the elections with a general list of the coalition, they will pass, but will lose 15 percent of votes. As for the opposition, it will garner quite a lot of votes."

Politologist Ruben Mehrabyan says the events taking place in Russia are unprecedented for the entire term of Vladimir Putin. "All civil and political forces have come together with a common agenda with the two very simple objectives to hold fair elections and release the nearly dozens of political prisoners."

The politologist is certain that the massive events in Russia will continue and that they are already organized. According to Ruben Mehrabyan, the authorities won't apply force against the Russians who have come out to the streets in the large Russian cities, but the small cities are not excluded. "I am certain that the people who have come out to the streets will see their demands fulfilled."

Ruben Mehrabyan also believes the events taking place in Russia will have their impact on Armenia. "There are forces in Armenia that see their spiritual fathers in Russia. When those spiritual fathers politically die, the ownerless government will not have any chances in the upcoming elections."
