No more vehicles stranded at Upper Lars
There are not any Armenian vehicles stranded at Upper Lars checkpoint at the Armenian-Georgian border, says Herbert Hambardzumyan, Chairman of the Armenian Association of Cargo Shippers.
Over 200 vehicles bound for Armenia reportedly remained trapped at Upper Lars for a month, with relevant bodies citing unfavorable weather conditions as the main reason for delay.
Hambardzumyan states the traffic was blocked for security measures and ‘there is not any political pretext.' The he cited the Georgian side that claimed the vehicles could not move ahead unless the blizzard could be towed away fro the area and weather conditions improved.
The damage inflicted on the Armenian side still needs to be clarified.
Note that the drivers were forced to spent the nights in the fields.
