Will Heritage and HHK unite?
The Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Heritage and Country of Law (OYK) will unite sooner or later, according to the leader of the National Self-Determination Union (AIM), Paruyr Hayrikyan.
Taking into account the parties' desire to join the European People's Party (EPP), the AIM leader advises them ‘to stand above personal aspirations and unite if they really want to become affiliated with the EPP.'
Mr. Hayrikyan does not share the enthusiasm of the parties during the EPP congress since ‘they were simply granted observer status.'
The AIM leader stressed that the EPP represents of the European Union, therefore, "As long as we are not EU members, we cannot join the EPP."
During the Marseilles-hosted EPP meeting it was announced that the final decision will be made in February.
As leader of a political structure, which has had an experience of cooperation with the European People's Party, Paruyr Hayrikyan praised the cooperation of the four Armenian parliamentary forces with the EPP. He is even ready to become a broker between the three coalition parties and Heritage for the sake of their future membership with the European conservatives.
Speaking about the disagreement between the HHK and BHK, Hayrikyan said during his meetings with BHK Leader Gagik Tsarukyan he has not obsereved any contradiction. "I have noticed only profound veneration towards the HHK," said the AIM leader.
