“Crime against humanity”
Russia has voted against the UN Human Rights Resolution on the state of Syria, assessing it as "unilateral and politicized", as reported on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared that the Resolution doesn't reflect the Syrian regime's plans to get out of the situation, its goals to organize dialogue and the notions of necessary reforms. The ministry has expressed discontent with the fact that the document doesn't criticize the actions of armed groupings in Syria.
In addition, Russia has considered unacceptable the stipulation on the "possible interference of foreign powers with the pretext of defending the people of Syria".
We remind that on December 2, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a Resolution by which the Syrian government is accused of "applying brutality frequently" against its own citizens. The authors of the Resolution have assessed the actions of the Syrian government as a crime against humanity.
The Resolution has received the consent of 37 countries. Four countries voted against it, including Russia and China, while 6 countries remained neutral.
